NEWS UPDATE: DARLINGTON STATION

A major milestone is approaching for Darlington Station, with its transformative upgrade on track for completion in spring 2026.

This landmark project brings together Network Rail, LNER, Tees Valley Combined Authority and Darlington Council, with the Department for Transport as the majority funder.

The upgrade will deliver new platforms, a fully accessible footbridge linking to the new Eastern Gateway concourse, a multi storey car park, and improved sustainable travel facilities including cycle lanes and bike shelters.

Together, these improvements will enhance accessibility, connectivity and the overall passenger experience, while supporting growth across Darlington and the wider North East.
